Cruel as they can be, Sepp Blatter’s proposal to abolish the penalty shoot-out would be to rob the game of some of its greatest, and most devastating, moments. Max Grieve would rather live through the pain of losing on penalties so as to eventually experience the euphoria of winning in a shoot-out than get rid of them altogether.
